# 3 Run the BGM

Trail running in the spectacular world of the Bernina glacier. In two days you will run 42.2 kilometres through the breathtaking Bernina massif, surrounded by Piz Bernina and Piz Palü. But it’s not only the landscape of the high alpine Engadine mountain massif that makes the king’s route of Bernina Ultraks so special, the different surfaces also challenge you as a runner: from asphalt, classic trails, glacier moraine and even crossing the glacier ice, everything is included.

Requirements

Important note: For safety reasons, glacier passages of the Bernina Glacier Marathon route are not suitable for individual training and can only be run with official Ultraks trail guides.


Trail Coach

Roberto Rivola is Swiss Athletics certified mountainrunning guide with a passion for mountain and desert races.
He has run 10 stage races up to 250 km in different deserts (Sahara, Gobi, Atacama, Namibia) and in rough terrain (Hawaii, Grand Canyon, Iceland).
The Engadine mountains are his home, therefore mountain running competitions up to 170 km are also part of his palmarès, among others Swissalpine, Irontrail, Swisspeaks, etc., mostly with podium finishes in his age group.
Roberto has explored practically every trail in the Engadine valley and can explain the Engadine mountains and give trail running advice in English, German, Italian and French.
